County Clerk’s Online Documents
Due to storage limitations, Marshall County will no longer print out our books. All of our books are scanned and available to view or purchase.
Instructions to view land books on IDX:
- Click the “IDX Document Search” button below to begin
- In IDX click “Image Search” on the ribbon at the top of the screen
- Using the dropdown, choose “Land Books (Town Lots)” or “Land Books (Tract Land)”
- In the “Book #” space, type the year you want
- In the 1st “Suffix” box, type the 2 digit district you want from the list below
- Hit enter twice
- Click Next or Previous to turn pages
Town Lots:

08 – McMechen
10 – Moundsville in Clay
11 – Moundsville in Washington
16 – Wheeling in Sandhill
14 – Washington
15 – Webster
Tract Land:

Instructions to view or print documents:
- Click the “IDX Document Search” button below to begin
- In IDX choose “New Account” on the right side of the top navigation
- Click “Login” if you already have an account and skip to number 5
- Fill out the Account information
- Click “OK”
- Login using your email as your username
- Click Download & Print for the document you want to print
- Be sure to use the range of numbers, not the page numbers as they do not always match
- You must enter a memo
- Once you’ve added all the documents you need to print, choose the blue tag that says, “Cart”
- Click “Pay”
- Choose payment method and follow check out instructions
County Clerk Duties Include:
Clerk for the County Commission
- Maintains payroll for all county employees
- Responsible for payment of all county debts
- Oversee and monitor county budget
- Retains the county’s financial statements
- Preserves all orders from the County Commission
- Keep minutes of all County Commission meetings
Voters Registration & Elections
- Chief election official for the county
- Maintain county voter registration records
- Prepares ballot
- Conducts absentee and early voting
- Prepares and supplies all material for election day
- Conducts all poll worker training
- Tabulates election results
- Residents of Marshall County can register to vote at the Marshall County Clerk’s Office.

Fiduciary & Probate
- Record and probate wills
- Appointment of fiduciaries in estate matters
- For any questions regarding the fiduciary and probate service, contact the Marshall County Clerk’s office by phone or at estates@marshallcountywv.gov
- A $300.00 deposit is required at the time of ALL appointments to cover costs of a Fiduciary Commissioner if referred during the probate. The deposit will be refunded AFTER the settlement is approved if there is no referral. THIS DEPOSIT IS SEPARATE AND MUST BE CASH, CHECK OR MONEY ORDER.
PLEASE NOTE: Appointments must be made for all probate matters and must have all information prior to appointment.
Vital Statistics
- Record and index births, marriages and deaths in the county
- Issue certified copies of vital documents
Document Recording
- Maintain records of deeds, deeds of trust, liens, releases, appraisements, settlements, UCC filings, leases, wills, military discharge and various miscellaneous documents
- Computers are available to search tax and indexing records
- Copies of documents are available for $1.50 each for the first two pages and $1.00 for each additional page
